TikTok and Amplify Launch The Next Episode: Brands Join Creator Series

TikTok and Amplify announced The Next Episode on September 14, an initiative connecting brands with creator-led content series. The announcement, published in TikTok's Australian newsroom, describes opportunities to join a creator's series or develop a creator-led brand series.

Instead of buying a one-off appearance in a video, advertisers need to think about a format audiences can return to. This is a different creative commitment: there needs to be a reason for the next episode, even after viewers have become familiar with the product.

Two ways to enter a series

In the Creator Content Series option, the brand joins the creator's content world. In the Brand Content Series option, the brand sits at the center of the series. TikTok also mentions production support for eligible brands alongside media investment, but the announcement includes neither a price list nor automatic eligibility for every business.

Formats mentioned include interviews, game shows, documentary series and short dramas. The list illustrates the range of possibilities; it does not prove that every format suits every product category.

A brand selling cookware, for example, can ask whether there is an interesting story about the participants' challenges or merely another opportunity to show the frying pan. The former may provide a basis for more episodes. The latter may run out of steam in the first episode. This is a conceptual test, not a performance forecast.

What to decide before filming

A series needs clear rules: who leads it, what recurs in each episode and what changes. Define how much freedom the creator has, which messages must be precise and who approves the edit.

When a brand tries to be present at every moment, it may make storytelling harder. Too little presence, however, may leave audiences enjoying content with no clear connection to the advertiser. There is no fixed ratio that solves this balance; the episode needs to be considered as a complete work.

Measurement goes beyond the first episode

A campaign like this calls for tracking movement between episodes, responses to the content and the relationship between viewing and the action the brand wants. Decide in advance what to learn at each stage instead of judging the entire series solely by the video with the most views.

Production and media costs should also appear separately in the plan. Production support does not mean the entire campaign is free, and eligibility must be clarified with the program operator.

The Next Episode offers a commercial framework for an ongoing story. For an Israeli advertiser, it is currently an example of an initiative announced abroad, not confirmation of local availability. The creative lesson is useful outside the program, too: before committing to a series, you need an idea that justifies continuing it.
