A 100% living stipend for a chemistry master's degree at Tel Aviv University is NIS 2,757 per month at Level A in the first year and NIS 3,846 at Level B in the second year. This is stated on the school's page updated on October 4, 2026. It is an information update about an existing program, not an announcement of a new entitlement.
A Grade of 80 Is a Starting Point, Not an Offer of Admission
Under the chemistry master's admission requirements, holders of a bachelor's degree in chemistry or a related subject from a recognized institution, with a grade of at least 80, may apply. Some candidates will be invited for an interview, and a supervisor must be found before studies begin. The university's language requirements must also be met.
Graduates of a related subject may need supplementary courses determined by the admissions committee. Anyone coming from another field should therefore clarify two separate questions: whether their background suits the program and what supplementary study will be required before they can progress.
A Tuition Exemption Does Not Cover Every Expense
According to the living stipend page, the program requires full-time commitment to research. Even a partial scholarship grants a tuition exemption; security and welfare fees are paid separately, with the option to waive welfare services.
For personal planning, distinguish between savings on tuition and money entering your account. An exemption can reduce a substantial expense, but it does not itself pay for rent, travel and food. Anyone planning to work alongside their studies should check in advance how that plan fits with the requirement to devote their time to research.
The Second Year Also Belongs in the Calculation
For students with a grade of 90 or above, a 150% scholarship is advertised, along with a 25% teaching assistant position in the second year. The maximum scholarship period is 24 months; academic performance and outstanding study requirements may affect its subsequent level.
In practice, ask for a breakdown for each year. Do not assume the amount at the start of the degree will remain fixed or that a teaching position is an identical component of the living stipend. List each component separately in your budget, together with when it is expected to start and end.
Four Questions Worth Sending Before Registration
To get a useful picture, contact the school through the links on its official pages and request a written answer:
- What is the current monthly scholarship amount, at which level and percentage?
- What is required to maintain the funding level in the second year?
- Which payments remain due after the tuition exemption?
- Is additional funding approval required, and when will payment actually begin?
The scholarship page lists the research student and scholarship coordinator, Ronit Weingarten: [email protected], telephone 03-6407744. Applicants are asked to submit a scholarship recipient questionnaire and a copy of their identity card according to the school's instructions. The page does not state an application deadline, so it is worth checking directly.
To assess the workload alongside funding, also read the master's degree guidelines for 2026/27. These include safety and first-aid obligations that do not carry credits but are required to receive the degree. A discussion about a scholarship should take place alongside a conversation with a supervisor about the research, time commitment and expectations of the student.
