Healthy Drinking: Tips for a Refreshing, Healthy Summer

We must drink plenty of water to stay healthy and avoid serious illness and dehydration. Many of us do not drink enough water each day, even though our bodies are approximately 60% water. If we do not consume the recommended daily amount of fluid, we may experience fatigue, headaches, drowsiness, dizziness and more. Failing to maintain proper hydration over time exposes us to serious health problems, such as impaired heart function and kidney damage. Doctors recommend healthy drinking for all of us, meaning mainly water.

Since not everyone likes drinking water, other quality drinks such as green tea, herbal tea and especially sparkling water can supply the desired daily fluid intake. Natural juices and various smoothies are also options, but remember that they contain high amounts of sugar. Experts therefore recommend avoiding commercially produced fruit juices and especially sugary drinks.

How Much Should You Drink?

Until recently, experts recommended about 8 glasses of water a day, but newer recommendations state that women should drink 8-9 glasses of fluid daily and men 10-12. This recommendation is not definitive, because the amount varies with factors such as age, weight, sex, body fat percentage, type and nature of work, physical activity and climate. In some situations, we need more fluids, for example during outdoor trips on a sunny day, intensive exercise, pregnancy, breastfeeding and various illnesses.

How to Drink Healthily

Most of us drink only when thirsty, but in winter the sensation of thirst does not work well, so it is worth monitoring urine color: a dark shade indicates insufficient fluid intake. In general, it is best to drink only water, though sparkling water, green tea, herbal infusions and other drinks are also options. Avoid soft drinks and sugary drinks, including commercially produced fruit juices and smoothies high in sugar. If you cannot drink only water, an occasional soft drink is possible, of course one with very little or no sugar.

Soft drinks are not recommended for our health. They can harm the body because, beyond sugar, they contain other unhealthy ingredients such as flavorings and artificial sweeteners. Experts recommend switching to healthy drinking, or at least changing habits to choose drinks considered less harmful to the body and health. If you get children used to drinking only water from an early age, switching to healthy drinking will be easy. When children are accustomed to sugary drinks, however, it is harder to break this harmful, unhealthy habit.

In this situation, it is worth ordering a home soda dispenser , and with this advanced device we can prepare sparkling water at three carbonation levels and enjoy a healthy, quality fizzy drink. Incidentally, it is better to make sparkling water at home than buy factory-produced soda water. Soda water is ordinary water into which carbon dioxide is dissolved, and factories generally add table salt, sodium or another mineral.

Water and Sparkling Water: The Winning Combination

There is no doubt that we should drink only water and sparkling water, so the right solution for healthy drinking at home is to order a domestic sparkling water maker, such as a soda dispenser marketed by a leading company. When buying a water dispenser with a sparkling water tap, we enjoy clear, tasty water free of contaminants, and can prepare sparkling water at our preferred carbonation level at the touch of a button. The home device gets the entire family drinking healthily, avoiding purchases of sugary drinks containing enormous amounts of sugar.
